Into Memorial Day Weekend we go! This weekend means plenty of things. It's a long holiday weekend allowing extra time with family and friends, it's the unofficial start of summer, and also a time to remember and reflect upon the cost of our freedom. In this week's note, I've shared opportunities and thoughts for all these things. Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope it's a great one! |

| | | Memorial Day is about more than a long weekend or retail sales. Memorial Day, which is always observed on the last Monday of May, honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated after the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many people embrace Memorial Day by visiting memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time. |
